Why I seriously hate all things fishing. This female had her shoulder sliced by fishing discarded by a fisherman, and today, 2 seals became imbedded with 3 barb fish hooks in the mouth’s. One was so badly snared, the one barb pierced through its tongue, the other its jaw, and the other its lower throat. An absolute nightmare removing it. Hats off to the vet team that did a great job. Fishermen snared the seal, the line then pulling at his mouth became snared around pillars beneath the harbour pier, where it trapped the seal, drowning it, as it tried to free itself, it was a nightmare trying to reach the seal struggling and trying to cut the fishing line free so that we could capture and move seal to undertake the operation of getting the hook out.
